rear spacers = cutting fenders? 200 1991

Hello everybody

Just bought a set of rear wheel spacers for my 1991 240 (20 mm per wheel), and here's what the installation instruction says:

"Cars with tyre P6x195 and 5-spoke rim only: remove approximately 10 mm of the edge as per sketch" (sketch shows rear ferner).

Does it suggest that all tyres wider than stock 185/70-14 will require some sutting work on rear fenders if spacers are installed? If so, what do I do with my 205/55-16 and car lowered 1 inch?

Did anybody cut rear fenders in this manner before or can same be achieved by rolling fender lip upwards?
