I want to thank Randy Starkie for his response to a post by Billy Traweek on 11-20-2000.
As I looked for posted messages that matched the spook in my 745, this message was a dead ringer for my intermittent engine quiting problem. Changing the fuel pump relay has fixed my car. My car would quit once a week or twice a day. It always restarted and never acted up when a mechanic was around. When it died on the Indiana Toll Road in front of many anxious semi drivers with no birm other than deep snow I was wondering if I should look at a car other than my Volvo. It might be a safe car,but I did not feel that as the semi blew his air horns to let me know I was in his path. I will remember that moment for a long time.
After changing the fuel pump relay myself, it has not died once. Thank you!
Thank you brickboard and thank you volvo owners for your help. Thanks also to Rusty at RPR. Rusty comfirmed to me that I was on the right track. Fingers down to my volvo mechanic. He wanted to start with the flywheel sensor. I guess we should do all the work on our Volvo's ourself and stop trying to train the mechanics who are not really that concerned with our problems anyhow.
Thanks again,
Pat
