What is a fair price? 200 85

I need to have the rack done on my '85 245. It started leaking at around 190K, and now at 214K I'm dumping enough steering juice that I'm embarrassed to park in anyone's driveway. She's also got a little more play than I'm comfortable with.

After studying various manuals (Haynes, Bentley, etc.) I've determined that this job is beyond my abilities. I called around, and the dealer wants $1200. One local indy. shop (not volvo-specific) wants $1500. I'm assuming that they would install a refurbished rack. What else should I have done at the same time? Should I replace the p/s pump? What about the hose from the pump to the gear? All of these parts are original. New tie-rod ends, and ball joints too?

Is there any EASY way to do this job in a weekend without any special tools?

Thanks in advance for the help.

-Rob
