Ball or roller bearings? 700 89-90

I'm a little confused. I have struts/spindles off a 90 940, the hub has ball bearings in it. I see no sign of a single replaceable race. Are these some sort of throw-away hub? The balls and race surfaces "appear" to be free of pits or scratches. Aside from cleaning out the nasty old grease, the bearings look fine. Its just a strange (to me) set-up, and I was wondering if I should even consider reusing the hubs. They look real nice. Forged with beefed up areas for the wheel studs....its a pretty piece. I'm thinking "wouldn't it be nice to re-use these?"

However.....I also have a pair of aftermarket hubs (new) that will take the (standard?) roller bearings. The hubs look plenty strong. They appear to be forged and then machined nicely, although nowhere near as pretty as the 940 hubs.

My question is, can I/should I re-use the origional (940) hubs w/ball bearings....or would it be wiser to use the new hubs. If can re-use the 940 hubs, what is the correct proceedure. Thanks for any advice or information.
