740T - is it my mass airflow meter? 700 1986

Symptoms: just after start-up from cold or after sitting for 30 minutes orsoe, upon initial acceleration, the car cuts out once. The feeling is just as if you had turned the key off then turned it back on again.

Occasionally, the car fails to start. If this happens, I can disconnect the connector to the mass airflow meter and the car will start but runs rough (as expected). I turn the car off, re-connect the MAF meter connector, and it starts and runs OK again.

Are these symptoms of a failing MAF meter? The weather here is warm (Australia). It appears the MAF meter was recently replaced, and I disconnected the hot air thermostat and am taking in cold air from in front of the bumper.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Greg
