long trip - fuel consumption 900 1992

hi,

im going on a long trip (through most of france and back, fully loaded). im currently gtting about 21 miles to the gallon. is there any way of improving the fuel consumption without losing too much performance.. or lose loads of performance, but gain lots on the fuel. ideally it would be a low powr switch mod (like the sport / economy modes on a modern automatic). car is a 960 turbo 5 door estate (station wagon for our colonial cousins ;) Its done 120,000 miles.

Guy
