I would consider a diesel only if I had an enclosed garage and a very long commute. For use in mostly short trips, you can kiss the engine goodbye a whole lot sooner. In cold weather, you have to pay attention to fuels so they don't gel up, and don't forget the regular oil changes and water from the fuel filter. The TDI is a nice car, but even with the turbo it doesn't have much oomph. You are comparing apples and oranges between a TDI and a 945T.
