Trouble with overdrive on hot engine. 700 1989

I just bought a used 89 760 Turbo Automatic, and all of the 760's little gizmos (electric seats, etc.) seem to be working well, surprisingly. The problem lies in the overdrive. On a frigid cold winter morning, i acclerate to speed, and the overdrive kicks in just great. After about 15-20 minutes of driving the car slips out of overdrive, and wont go back in until it has been left to cool right down.

any ideas?
