Vacation w/Volvo 700 1990

I am planning on a vacation in 2 weeks, my wife and I happened on a cruise (never been on one before). We were going to fly down to Miami from North Carolina but due to budget constraints we have opted to drive the 800 miles. The question is should I take my 1990 Volvo 760Ti with 170,000 miles on it? This car is super comfy to drive and would make the miles melt away, though I am leary about putting 1600 miles on this car. Also, is there any pre trip maintenance I should perform, I plan on cleaning the throttle body and change the coolant this weekend, today I replaced the spark plugs and I was going to bring it in to have the brake pads replaced and the rotors cut also an alinement. Is there anything I am missing? Should we just rent a car or bite the bullet and fly. Though the money saved on airfare would be spent on the forementioned maintenance (which needs to be done anyway).

Thanks for any help!
