Trial and error.

There seems to be 2 things commonly wrong with the lock.

At dealer,it may cost 50$ to make the diagnosis.If the relay is easy and cheap,that maybe worth a try.

As far as removing the door trim ,i loath to do it in this cold weather.Also I may break a plastic snap and end up with more rattle than desireable.So I most likely would leave that to the dealer.
