HOW TO SHIELD WHEELS FROM BRAKE DUST CONTAMINATION? 700 1988

To keep my front alloy wheels free of that annoying, tenacious brake dust, can I advantageously fabricate and place a 12-inch disc of plastic or sheetmetal onto the wheel studs between he rotor and the wheel? Will this disc inhibit air flow over the rotor, assuming that the wheel acts as an impeller to pump the air to the outside of the wheel? I recently spent 5 hours cleaning my wheels only to find that they are quite dirty after 2 weeks. Any other ideas?
