My experience with the 240 series stops with the 1989 model, but are you sure the pumps are supposed to cycle in your car? My experience with the 740 series begins at 1990 and I know they do.... but I digress.

Just because it is clicking doesn't mean it is delivering the goods. I would take a test light or meter and connect it to the wires currently on your fuel pump. Crank it over and see if you have 12volts at the pump.
