Both, probably. Revolting thoughts.

"Sparky" was the radioman in the good old days of (old, old) spark gap transmitters. The radioman could be more important to a ship or an outpost than the skipper or commander since only he knew Morse code. Sparky was the center and sole means of communication with the outside world.

So calling you "Sparky" is a volt or two more respectful than calling you "Ace," particularly since you're the FAQmeister.

But keep up with the Viagra jokes and we'll get to "Ace" quickly, Sport.
