brake light failure light 700 1991

I have a very annoying problem. My bulb failure light came on a few weeks ago and only when I step on the brake. I found the rear driver's side brake light not working but the bulb is fine. I can get it to work by pulling out the bulb and readjusting it, but it keeps going out. This has been going on for weeks now and is very annoying. I have tried everything to fix it including bending the housing contacts out and also wrapping tin foil around the metal base of the bulb itself. Any suggestions?
