740 turbo works but overheats 800$ 700 86

I called ad and person said it needs new head gasket. Then i asked what happened. He said he ignored overheating problem and car would not start. But after awhile and some more coolant and water it will run for 10 minutes or so. What does this sound like to you. Does the car just need new hoses and a new water pump? I havent checked the car out yet, but these are the things he told me. The car has 260 miles on it. Any ideas, is it probably easily fixable? I just want a second car for emergencies, in case my 81 240 gl with 97 thousand miles gets onery on me like it has been. Thanks. If i do check it out what should i look for or listen for?
