Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. The early cars had awful vinyl roofs. My guess is they covered up less-than-good welds. Very common is silver with black vinyl, which looks the worst, IMHO.

For no apparent reason, the series continued into 1981. These late cars had no vinyl roofs, and looked better...

Paul is right about the V-6. Shame. Makes a really good candidate for V-8 or B21/23FT swaps.

Total worldwide production over the run was ~6622 units. The breakdown:

1978: 1670

1979: 2120

1980: 1920

1981: 0912

Most were BW55 automatics. I have heard tell of a handful of M46's - rare in general on 26x cars, but especially so in this intended luxomobile.
