ATF Fluid/PS Fluid 700 1989

My Haynes states ATF Type A, F, or G should be used in the PS reservoir. Is this Ford spec? Will Dexron III work as well? Also, what is the best ATF to use in the AW71? I have used Castrol Dexron III in MBs for several years, but I don't know if you can sub GM spec for Ford. Please let me know.
