Headlight Dip Switch 200 87

concerns a Volvo 240 wagon, 1987 vintage, headlight main beam to dip position.

this 'mechanism' does not work. the head lights are in the dipped position, but the main beam indicator light is on.

there are 3 possible components that could have failed: the switch on the steering column 'stalk' (with the indicators etc), the head light relay, or something called a "Step Relay".

I thnk it is the step relay, as this appears to control the actual main beam to dip change over, and also the main beam indicator light.

also, if I knew where the relays were I could test them !

anybody have suggestions ?
