Please help me identify this 700 86

On my 1986 b230FT engine (wagon) there is a hose barb "thingy" fitted directly into the engine block. It is machined so that it looks like you could get a wrench (19-22mm?) onto the base of it where it enters the block. It has nothing connected to it and doesn't appear to be leaking or venting anything. It is on the passenger's side towards the rear of the engine, well beneath the level of the exhaust manifold. I don't see a reference for it anywhere in my books.
