Aftermarket fan: on rad or evaporator? 200 1987

I am the unlucky victim of mild Swedish summers. My 87 240 brick was designed by the Swedes with terrible A/C, especially in stop & go and parked in hot & humid weather, during which time the engine temperature has a strong tendency to rise dangerously into the red zone (I usually have to turn off the a/c to get it back down). The unit is fully charged with R-12. I have heard much about aftermarket electric fans - installed either on the back of the rad or on the evaporator. 1) Which is recommended? I am already considering upgrading to an all-metal rad. In either case, how do I wire it? I haven't done much more than standard maintenance stuff at this point, no tricky stuff, so patience with this beginner would be appreciated. 2)Where can I get such fans? Thanks.
