Re: How long to cool down turbos before turning engine off?

Ok. You'll get a lot of opinions. I'll give you two. My mechanic's: If you don't scream the turbo pulling into your driveway/parking spot, you don't really need to let it sit idle.

My opinion: wait at least 30 secs. It won't hurt to sit there. Just turn the radio up. And if you've been driving hard, wait a minute.

Run synthetic oil, that should help the life of the turbo. Also, if the turbo is old, you may want to replace the pipes going to and from the turbo.

Mine is seized right now. you DO NOT want that to happen. Its painful to drive w/o it....
