i was driving today on interstate and the car's rpms go from normal imediatley to almost zero enough to keep the car on. i pulled onto the shoulder and tried to give the car more gas but it made the car buck and jerk. it finally cut off. sitting on the side of the road i tried to pinpoint the burning smell under the dash. the fuel pump relay was hot. and i believe that what was burning. the fuses for the pumps were ok not hot or anything. the car started up after a minute or two and then i drove to school 30 miles away. i have a brand new main pump and i am going to replace the prepump soon. does this sound like a bad relay or intank pump causing relay to get hot and the car to act up?
thanks will
