Alter-rrrrrrgh-nator 200 1985

OK. Thanks for previous insights into the workings of the Volvo charging system. I had a fussy alternator on the 85/244, sometimes working, sometimes not. I took Don's (I think) advice and bought a rebuilt. After installing the new alternator, I get no charging at all as opposed to the previously intermittent problem. It's throwing like 9 volts/12.3 amps - it's not working. I only have the Haynes at this point which lacks much elaboration in the alternator department. From whence do these wires come?

The alternator is grounded to the........?

How difficult/expensive/PITA is replacing the harness? Where does it go before the battery?

Any insights are appreciated. I'm trying to sell this otherwise solid car and wish it to be in good shape for the sale.

Humbly,

paul m.
