Installing OD in 544... 444-544 65

Did it involve replacing the tunnel and repositioning the handbrake lever? I've been thinking hard about an OD in my 63 544 as it can't go freeway speeds without some serious revs (don't have a tach, but it is humming). Mine is pretty rusty in the lower quarters so it wouldn't be such a sacrelige to chop it up a bit. But the amount of work involved has me thinking about a rear-end ratio change instead. I would appreciate any details about how much work was involved in doing yours.

I once put an OD in the 63 122s I used to own (along with the engine, driveshafts, and rear axle out of the 142e donor car). It was a snug fit in the 122 tunnel, and the OD would occasionally bump the tunnel. I replaced the remote shifter from the 142e with the original long shifter/top plate from my original tranny.
