TEST THE RPM SENSOR USING IDB 700 92

or the integrated diagnostic box...the leetle black box on the left hand brace to the strut tower (or near there).

I don't have my Chiltons but the FAQ should have the diagnostic codes.

The rpm sensor won't necessarily set a code; you have to use a secondary function and then use the starter to turn the engine...then it will tell you if you have an rpm sensor signal.

As you might expect, this function only makes sense if you use it when the car won't start!

It wouldn't be unusual to have to replace both the FI and radio suppression relay at this point...you may be able to get away with resoldering them. I just replaced them on my 90 740T.
