Air bags 200 1989

My aunt has an '89 240 with 39,000 miles. I want the car bad, and she is willing to let me have it but she won't give it to me because it doesn't have air bags. So I was wondering if 240's ever did come with air bags? Can they be retrofitted? And finally what is the stat on the 240, like for 10 years or something nobody died in one? I heard it somewhere once but can't remember. Help! Thanks.
