2 questions -- speedo cable & tranny juice 140-160 1970

My speedometer cable broke on my 1970 164 w/M400.

Can I pull a cable from any 140 I find in a salvage yard? Or a

240? I don't really want to buy a specific cable for this car since

I'm going to be upgrading to an M410. Does an M400 / M410 have a

funky connector?

Also, my transmission seems to be leaking some transmission

juice. Lately, it's been getting harder to shift into first when

my car is standing still with the motor running. I want to top it

off before it hurts itself. What kind of stuff should I put in?
