TDC and timing belt change 700

This has probably been covered b/4 but as it didn't pertain to me it just rolled off of my head. This for a guy at work who either has one or is being a good samaritan.

In the process of doing the belt and tensioner on a b234(16Valve) he thinks he got the valve timing off.

I can prety much do one on a 4cyl with my eyes closed. I suggested he take extra care as there is a good chance that the motor is interference, and could turn into something ugly if not taken care of properly.

I would like to know how to do a static timing on this beast (find TDC on #1). I have yet to find it in the Bentley Bible and the archives skirt the issue but don't really say much.

References and opinions welcome.
