HEATER CONTROL VALVE 200 86

I just finished replacing my heater control valve with an original style from IPD. I was super careful with the installation which was something of a left-handed pain in the neck. I was particularly attentive to not kinking the capillary tube from the temp sensing coil which goes up in the ducting. Much to my dismay, I now appear to have no heat at all. The hose coming down from above the pedals is warm (I think this must be the supply side of the valve but the hose that leaves the valve toward the passenger side feels room temp (I think this must be the outlet side of the valve. The temp adjustment cable/lever is working properly.

Any ideas? Could I have gotten a faulty valve?
