Is it true that some 740's have 6.5 inch speakers in front doors? 700 1988

Hey all,

Me again. I have an 88 740, and recently installed some pioneer "bullet" splits (top of the range ones!), they really work well, but, i had a few problems.....the fact that 5.25 inch speakers that were in the front only JUST fitted in the existing hole..... It required alot of modification to the door panel, etc, and the door frame behind it!! (the speakers are twice the depth of standard ones....they fit, but i wouldn't mind knowing if there is a door panel that came standard with 6.5 inch speakers, the installation looks completely stock (except for the tweeter mounted up higher!!), i.e. i modified the 5.25 inch grills to sorta fit, with cable ties....... Is there a door with 6.5 inch holes? What about behind the interior panels in the 6.5inch version? Is there more room there, or at least, a bigger hole for the magnet? Also, will the 6.5 inch door panels mount nicely into my car? (if they exist!) Any help appreciated all! Thanks in advance,

Aaron
