Are you suggesting that someone not as mechanically gifted shouldn't purchase an older Volvo or face having to pay for labor charges at the local garage?

I probably have the same skill level as you: basic maintenance and some medium difficulty stuff. But I wouldn't give my 85 740 gle sedan to my mother for her daily driver. I think I'd rather hook her up with a 5 year old car every so often.

Just a thought: did Volvo make safety and issue cuz they couldn't get performance out of their cars? My car's a freakin slug...or more like battle wagon! Ha!
