Kickdown Cable Help!!! 200 1990

I am trying to replace my kickdown cable. And I absolutely love Doing tranny work (not). Ok I have a haynes manual and I got to the part where it say to pry the old cable housing out of the tranny. I tried for about 20 minutes and decided to take a break and change the trans filter. Then I remembered the book said to pull the cable and wedge a screwdriver in the cam and remove the old cable. I did that, the screwdriver fell out, the cam returned and I still can't get the cable out. Geez what a pain. I hope some one can bail me out. Right now I am going out to try to get the cam back to where the hole fro the cable is accessible.
