Ignition Switch Intermittent Problem 700 1987

Why is it that the car always has problems when the wife has it? Funny! Well, it has happened to me. I have read the Board postings on the subject and have a couple of questions. Sometimes when you turn the key I just get a clicking sound with all the dash lights working (idiot lights - I call them) Then when you turn the key a on and off a few times the starter then comes alive and the car starts. I bought used switch from a volvo dealer for $37 (he told me it had been tested and and there was a guarantee on it for 30 days). I installed it and all was well until today when my wife had the car. The problem occurred again. TESTING it I found that if you turn the key slowly to point where you would engage the starter the problem is there but if you turn the key quickly it starts with sometimes a problem. Could I just have a bad switch which needs to be brought back to the dealer. Please help...
