Sway bars, Rear shocks on 544 444-544 63

Just installed my new set of IPD swaybars on my 544 (only about 2 hours of crawling around underneath) and I'm amazed at the transformation. The car was VERY tippy in the corners before and felt slow to respond to steering inputs as the body had that delayed sway reaction. Now it stays a LOT flatter and understeers a lot less. It even seems a little more stable on the freeway - semis seemed to bounce it around more before. But improvements in one area just point out needed improvements in another - the skinny 165R15 tires felt fine before - it leaned so much you didn't go around corners very fast. Now I'm thinking the tires might need to be upgraded. I understand old Mustang rims fit...

I also found some 79-98 Mustang rear shocks that fit perfectly. I saw them on e-bay and they had the right mounts (stud on top, bolt through on bottom) and were for a small, light car. I queried the short and long measurements and they were very close (maybe 1/4 inch longer compressed - but won't bottom out on the 544). I bought a cheap set (anyone heard of Jamex?) and they fit perfectly. Now that I know they will fit, of course, I wish I had bought a pair of Mustang Bilsteins instead. I guess I'll use these for a bit then upgrade. Thought this information would be of interest to other 544 owners.

Now I need to find some car the front shocks will interchange with. The only problem is they are a little on the short side and operate further in on the A-arm so they might need to be stiffer than the 544's weight would indicate.
