A "Classic" Volvo? 900 1996

I saw an immaculate looking silver 96 940 sedan for sale at a local dealer's yesterday. It's wearing what appears to be a factory badge "Classic" on the trunk. This is also on the dealer's window sticker. I've never seen this model name before; is this a genuine "Classic"? :)

BTW, it's a used import from Singapore (I was there a couple of months back and their cars seem very well maintained); 88,000 kilometers (55k miles) on the clock; asking price US$7,560;

FYI, this is South Pacific, Downunder, New Zealand (where it's beautiful one day, perfect the next!), so prices may be way different from Stateside prices
