acceleration hiccups 700 1991

I have a 1991 740 turbo with the five speed manual transmission. The car has 181,000 K on it a recently had the turbo replaced. It has just developed an acceleration problem. It is as if the car isn't getting enough gas as will sputter and then run fine. It does this when the car is cold and when the car is warm. A week ago, after filling the tank, the car refused to do anything but idle, if I tryed to give the car gas it would stall. After about ten minutes, the car began to run fine but the check engine light came on and my mechanic relaced the oxygen sensor ($200 bucks) and put dry gas in the tank. The car still, on occassion, has this sputtering effect during acceleration. Does this mean the fuel pump is going or should I look somewhere else?
