ball joint removal question 200 87

Hello again,

I'm going to replace my right ball joint, and I want to make sure I have the right procedure....Remove the four bolts that hold the housing to the bottom of the strut assembly, remove the three bigger bolts that hold the ball joint to the control arm. Then do I take the whole thing off and remove the nut and seperate the ball joint from the housing using a vise and a seperator? After it's apart do I press the new joint into the housing by using the vise or can I pinch it together using my channel lock plyers(like I did with the tie rod end)and then tighten the nut. Then reassemble??

Thanks as usual, Phil Stone '85 245GL 193k, '87 240DL unknown milage
