another wheel question 200 '88

since i've decided on finding a set of 5-spoke 700 series turbo wheels, i think i need to remove the wild hair of wanting to get them chromed. any suggestions?? options?? is there a 'do-it-yourself' kit??

my neighbor has the tools that will allow me to sandblast the wheels myself. i've called a few local shops and i'm finding the cost to be 150-170$$ A WHEEL!!! i'm cheap and not about to pay that per wheel (i wasn't wanting to pay that for all 4.) i've seen some home improvement shows that have featured the chroming process for fixtures and from that, i've learned that the process isn't very difficult and doesn't take that long to do. if i decide not to chrome, is there something else that i can do to the wheels to make them stand out without being obnoxious?? i've considered powder-coating or painting. are there other options that i'm not thinking about??

thanks for the help.........
