Excentric doors, and Synth oil 200 82

I'm finding lots of fun little things to work on with my new car. The first one...The driver's door lock has stuck on me twice now. I pull it (the knob) up, but it won't open. I have to fiddle with the outside handle, and lift the knob a few times before the door will open (with inside handle) Took me 3 minutes to get out of the car yesterday while my co-workers giggled.

Ideas??

Also, what are the opinions on synthetic oil? The car is an '82 with a B21a engine. There seems to be a leak, but I'm not sure where from yet.
