Oil Pressure Check?

Hello Everyone,

I have just painstakingly replaced my original '88 740GLE 4 cylinder engine with a used one. The original engine seized because the oil pump (which was replaced) broke. It broke at the key where it mates with the gear (driven by auxilliary shaft) which in turns drives the oil pump.

I have since reassembled everything. I want to make sure that the pump is operating as intended. I do not want to have to do this again =)

Is there a quick method of checking that the pump is operating without having to pull anything apart? Possibly pressure check?

I would appreciate any help 8)

Many Thanks,

nic
