Mods to head lights ? 700 1991

I would like to know if anyone has taken the whole head light units out and replaced them with the old style 4 light units like on the old 1989 740 cars. Are the mounting holes on the frame the same on the 91 as the 89 cars ? The 2 headlight plastic units just does not seem to produce a good light.
