Idle adjustment..Steve Ringlee..HELP! 200 89

I did what all good bricksters do...read the FAQ on fuel injection for the B230 engine in the 7xx section...followed instructions and tried to adjust the idle after pinching the IAC hose using vicegrips padded with tape. NO LUCK. No matter how I screwed out the screw, the idle would not go below 800 RPM. It was supposed to be at 480-520 (I assume with the hose still clamped shut, the instructions are not clear here). How to proceed next?

This 89 throttle body does not have the plastic idle adjustment screw that earlier models (83 for example) had.If worse comes to worse, can I use the TPS off the 83 on the 89? How about the entire throttle body, are they interchangable?

I would hope I'm not the only one in this fix?

thanks,g.lo.
