Oil light on at idle.....again. (kinda long) 700 90

Hi,

My 90 740 Turbo (130 K) had an oil light come on at idle ( but would go away above 900rpm and never made any noise) last July. After talking to a service tech. at the local Volvo dealer he said that sometimes the oil delivery pipe seals pop out and pressure drops because of it. I dropped the oil pan and, sure enough, I could see a little part of the seal pushed back onto the pipe where it goes into the block. I changed both seals and everything seemed fine, no oil light on. After my wife went on a 600 mile trip the light came on again ( about 5k miles after the job, in October). I dropped the oil pan again and could see a piece of the seal again where it goes into the block. I changed both seals again and this time tapped the delivery pipe with a piece of wood and hammer and the pipe went further into the block. I was relieved because I thought I just didn't get the pipe far enough into the block the first time. Everything was fine again until last week. She went on a long trip again and now the oil light comes on at idle again. I don't know if there's too much oil pressure and it's popping out the seals during a long trip or what. I haven't dropped the pan yet but would like to get some opinions. The first time I used oem seals and the second time I used seals from IPD (they're different but similar).

Anyone have some encouraging tips for me? Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

Lou
