Intermittent Starting Problems 200 1992

My mother ownes a 1992 240. It runs great except when she goes to start the car she has about a 50% chance that the car will start. The car either starts right up and runs great or it dosen't start at all. My best guess is that there is a faulty electronic switch that is not turning on the ignition system or fuel system. If the car starts it has never unexpectantly stopped or stalled during in operation.

Can anyone solve my mothers car problems.
