Low voltage... battery temp sensor? 700 1991

I've (still) got a '91 780 Turbo B230 FT. I'm running a primary electric fan and it seems like when I've got the lights on and the A/C on, the volt meter hangs out near the red when I'm at idle, and not much higher than that on the road. Does my car have a battery temperature sensor? I looked but didn't see anything coming out from under the battery tray, and nothing goes into the back of the voltage regulator that I can see. Perhaps I should invest in the adjustable regulator from IPD? Any comments/ideas? The battery is new, by the way. Thanks!
