VERY High Idle on startup 200 1983

I just fell victim to the infamous deteriorating wiring harness on my '83 244DL. It has a B23F with the LH-Jetronic FI/Chrysler distributor.

The wiring harness for the ignition and the vacuum line were melted into separate pieces, and the alternator cable insulation melted for about 8". This happened where the wiring made the transition over the alternator & under the block.

I spliced the ignition wiring (where the heat/oil hadn't contaminated it was still fine) and replaced the vacuum line & alternator cable. I ohmed the wiring out, and it all seems to be proper again.

The Hall sensor was damaged during the shortout-no spark was the symptom. I replaced the sensor, and the car now starts and runs.

However: the idle is VERY high on startup; over 2000-2500RPM by my guess, and steady. What might cause this? Could the Ignition Control Unit have been damaged too?

I took a closer look at the engine after getting it started: I replaced the vacuum line from the FI to the assembly that holds the flame damper (plugged solid, removed to be replaced tomorrow). No change in the idle.

I suspect something electrical, due to the engine running "normally" prior to the shortout. What component sets a high engine speed, and why?

Any help would be appreciated.
