Hey there - welcome...

If you are looking for a turbo, I would suggest an 88 or newer, as the engines are stronger... (not that the earlier ones are weak...by american standards)

Anyhow, check for rust - especially under the front wheels where the suspension attaches to the frame... usually there will be no visible rust, only slight bubbling of the undercoating...ask me how I know...

I would tend to avoid the red or purple shades - as those colors tend to fade the fastest...

I really like my 87 740 wagon = it has 269,000 miles on it (with regular maintanance) and still runs like a champ.. (it is not a turbo..)
