Hood is stuck on Oil cap. Won't open at all.. ALL 79

I finally did it, outdid myself in stupidity..

I poured some oil into my 79 244, but forgot to put the cap back on.. Didn't realize this until hours later when I saw oil smoke come out from under the hood.

My hood is shut tight, with the left side of the hood 1" higher than the right.

I've tried using a long screw driver to try to push the lever out of the way, but not knowing what the real assembly looks like, I find it hard to figure the second lever? It seems to be that one that won't budge.

I guess I'll just have to beg a stranger with a 240 model to let me look under his hood, if I cross one tomorrow on my way to work (I'm walking).

Is there any magical solutions? I have the "haynes?" manual but it doesn't show me anything for this situation..

Thanks in advance for any help.

Gerard
