no start when hot 700 1988

As the winter is over an warm weather approaches, new problem become evident on the 1988 740 I just purchased used. The one causing me the most grief is a "no restart when hot" scenario.

Strange that if I let it sit until cold (less than 100 degrees F), it will start right up.

Symptoms and observations.

When hot and not starting, there is definitely spark at the spark plugs. Timing is unknown.

A recent visit with the ontario clean-air people show result of less than 20% of allowable emmissions in the HC, NO2 and CO levels (good huh!).

A usual precondition is once hot, initial turning over of the engine, it will crank without a sputter for as long as you hold the key in the start position. Release the key, and attempt to restart immediately and the car will most of the time fire up immediately. If it at all sputters and dies, I have to wait until it is dead cold.

Any ideas???? Help
