If the comnpressor clutch makes noise when ENGAGED, then I would worry about the compressor, not the clutch. The bearing in the clutch only moves when the compressor clutch is DISENGAGED - i.e., the pulley is turning and the compressor is not. Other possibility is that the pulley is contacting the electromagnet due to worn bearing, but only when the magnet is energized and exerting some magnetic force on the pulley. Either way, it is worth pulling the pulley off to take a look.
Removing the clutch is pretty easy, but you will need a jack screw to get it off. After removing the belt and the pulley bolt,look at the front of the pulley - there is a large threaded hole - takes an SAE thread - you can find a bolt of the correct size and thread - larger than the bolt that holds the pulley on - I don't remember what it is off hand - I got one out of a junk box at a repair garage one time on a trip when the clutch bearing failed and I had to fix it on the road. Hold the pulley and screw the bolt into the hole and tighten to jack the pulley off the shaft. THen there is one wire to disconnect and some small bolts holding the electromagnet onto the front of the compressor. THe bearing and electromagnet area both replaceable separate from the pulley/clutch assy. I think that there is a large snap-ring that holds the bearing. If the bearing is truly toasted, then the pulley may have ruined the electromagnet - but it could be that only the bearing needs replacing.
